Your entry can be any historic curiosity that does NOT appear in the new book Strange But True, America. You may read your state’s tales by checking the index on page 151 of the book at your public library, or you may request your state’s stories for free by emailing jhafnor@aol.com. You will discover many weird and largely unknown history tales at your library, or by using Google and other search engines.
Your tale need not be professionally written, and can be as few as 50 words … or as many as 300 words. It will be judged by an independent panel of qualified judges against all other entries from your state. Valid entries must be postmarked or received no later than January 31, 2010.
Email your entry to jhafnor@aol.com, or mail your entry to Lone Pine Productions, 3116 W. County Rd. 38E, Fort Collins, CO 80526.
The winner from each state will receive a caricature of themselves drawn by Dale Crawford, the illustrator of Strange But True, America. Winners may request that Crawford draw them in the historic costume and/or setting of their choice. With their written permission, winners may have their tale and caricature published at www.StrangeTrueUS.com. State winners will also receive two copies of Strange But True, America, each signed by both the author and the illustrator, and their tale will be entered in the national contest.
No purchase is necessary. All winners will be selected by an independent panel of qualified judges appointed by the sponsor or promoter of this contest. Winners will be selected based on predetermined objectives and definitive criteria.
Each tale will be judged on the compelling nature of the story line, and the originality or novelty of the information presented. Points are given by judges using a scale (1 to 10). Detailed judged evaluation and criteria sheets are available for free by sending a stamped, self-addressed envelope to: Lone Pine Productions, 3116 W. County Rd. 38E, Fort Collins, CO 80526
All entrants must be 21 or older. This contest is void where prohibited. Each entrant may enter no more than one tale for consideration.

Crawford will further colorize this artwork, and it will be professionally framed. All prizes will be awarded where entries are received.
